I have recently completed an apprenticeship program where I gained hands on experience as a computer numerically controlled programmer. In this program I learned how to read blueprints and I gained extensive knowledge of computers and the computer-aided programs used in this type of work. I gained extensive knowledge of the NC codes used in designs and I learned how to produce NC programs.

I also learned how to program the machines manually and I have knowledge of the various materials used to cut and shape the parts made. I learned which tools to use depending on the products being made and I am also familiar with other aspects associated with this position such as dowel fitting, shop practices and hand-tapping.

I have outstanding math skills with the ability to set measurements precisely to achieve the desired outcome. My skills also include excellent problem solving and critical thinking abilities. I have excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a group.

I understand and can adhere to all safety procedures used in this profession and I understand the importance of wearing the safety gear such as goggles and earplugs. Since technology is always changing I am currently seeking an associate degree in manufacturing technology.
