Dear Ms. Shipman,

I am writing in regards to the City Planner position advertised with City of Centerville. My qualifications match the requirements listed in your posting.

I have worked as a City Planner for three years during which time I gained extensive knowledge in planning out how the city should use their land to provide the most benefits. I have excellent research and investigative skills that I use to determine the current use of the land and to determine the population of the city. I also have the ability to predict the future needs of the city based on its expected growth.

I have outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with other professionals such as developers, lawyers and government officials to discuss projects, proposals made by other officials, make and defend my own proposals and to discuss other developmental issues.

I have the experience to help determine the zoning laws for the land in the city and to help draft legislation. I have a real concern for the environment and the knowledge to help determine the impact that project proposals will have on the environment short-term and long-term.

I am computer proficient with the ability to use or learn any program needed to map out areas for projects and to predict costs and trends. I am confident that I have the skills and experience needed to fill this position and I hope to meet with you soon to discuss it in more detail.
