I have always been handy with tools, so I completed an associate degree in building maintenance to learn about the new technologies and procedures used in this industry. My courses taught me about plumbing, machine maintenance, safety procedures and everything you need to know about boilers. I also know how to read blueprints and manuals, which makes working with complex HVAC systems or other complicated equipment much more efficient.
I have several years of experience doing general maintenance work such as repairing or replacing appliances, changing light fixtures, repairing minor water leaks and replacing worn or damaged flooring. I am now a certified engineer with the training needed to install, operate and repair boilers and to troubleshoot and repair electrical switches.
I have the skills to work in the field assisting with all maintenance issues but I also have the knowledge to perform the administrative duties associated with this position such as scheduling repair assignments and following through to make sure all problems are dealt with in the order they were reported or according to the seriousness of the complaint.
I have the communication skills needed to coordinate and manage any new construction, remodeling or renovations planned for the hotel. I have the skills and experience needed to keep hotel operations running efficiently and to respond to any emergency in a fast and professional manner. I also have the ability to train the maintenance crew on company policies and procedure and to ensure all work performed complies with the state and federal codes as well as company standards.
