I am submitting this letter in hopes of securing a position with your facility as a Correctional Officer. I know that my background in criminal justice and in corrections in particular would be an asset to Clarinda Correctional Facility and that I would make a positive contribution to the team.

I am attaching my resume and including a brief summary here of the skills and qualifications that I would bring if hired:

•I have a B.S degree in Criminal Justice and have been working in corrections for over 6 years.

•Working with those who are incarcerated means being physically and mentally fit and I am fully qualified on both of these counts.

•Many times a soft voice will do more to calm down a potentially explosive situation and I feel that my communication skills can be put to good use with those inmates who require a delicate touch rather than a manhandling.

I know that there is a great deal of stress in working with offenders and that it takes a team effort to diffuse situations that may get out of hand. For this reason, I know that I would be a vital member of the team at Clarinda Correctional Facility.
