I am applying for the Court Officer position that has recently become available with Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

I have a bachelor’s degree in criminology and a license to carry a firearm. I have taken lessons to learn how to use firearms correctly and safely and I attended a training program for court officers. During this program, I learned how to provide protection in a courtroom based on the guidelines of the state. This includes how to handle defendants and the guidelines for providing security for a courtroom.

During this training, I also took physical fitness and mental health screenings that prove I am capable of handling this position and I completed the law enforcement course. I have outstanding verbal and written skills with the ability to understand instructions and follow them to the letter. I also possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm and use my training during emergencies.

I understand legal terminology and I have the ability to escort the judge in and out of the courtroom, declare court is in session and to announce when to dismiss. I have the training to set up all equipment needed in the courtroom for the attorneys to present their case and to assist in giving the presentations.

I have the ability to solve problems in a fast and efficient manner and I possess great time management skills. I am fully prepared to take on this position and I look forward to meeting with you in person to discuss the job in more detail.
