Here is the Compassionate Geriatric Nurse Cover Letter Example:

Dear Ms. Kim Cotton,

I am applying for the Geriatric Nurse position with Providence Hospital and my credentials match the requirements listed in your posting.

I am a licensed RN and I have worked for a local hospital for the last three years. During this time, I have gained experience working with the elderly and I found it to be very rewarding work. For this reason, I am pursuing a career as a Geriatric Nurse and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to work for your facility.

I have the medical skills to perform basic nursing duties such as taking blood pressure, giving medications and assisting other professionals as needed in the care of these patients. I have the experience needed to notice even the small changes in the patients that could be a sign of distress along with the ability to keep excellent patient records.

I understand the difficulties that the elderly face and how upsetting it can be to no longer have the independence you once did. I can offer a sympathetic ear while providing counseling for the patients and their families. I have the medical training needed to help create individual treatment plans and to monitor the patients to ensure they are following their plan.

I have the stamina needed to handle the long periods of standing and to do the lifting that is often required with this job. I am a very caring person with lots of patience and a real concern for the elderly. I am also mentally prepared to handle the emotional aspect of working with the elderly on a daily basis.
