Dear Ms. Debra Whatley,

I am writing to apply for the Medical Surgical Nurse position with Wilson Memorial Hospital.

I have met all of the requirements for this position by acquiring a bachelor’s degree in nursing, an RN license and a CNS certification. With three years of experience working in an emergency room of a large hospital, I have acquired the skills to work with both trauma and critically ill patients. My training and experience has taught me how to respond quickly and calmly during emergency and to determine which patients need immediate urgent care.

My experience includes preparing patients for surgery, explaining the process to them, reassuring patients to help them relax and answering any questions they may have. It also includes taking care of patients during and after surgery by reading EKGs, checking vitals and by providing them with their medication, monitoring the recovery process, checking for signs of problems and alerting the physician of any changes that takes place.

My exceptional time management and organizational skills make it possible to manage several patients throughout the day, while providing them with quality care in addition to admitting and discharging patients when necessary.

I have excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to interact with the patients and staff in a friendly and efficient manner and to keep accurate, detailed reports of all patients, procedures and medications provided. My skills also include strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills and I adhere to strict confidentiality and ethical standards.
