Dear Ms. Angela Young,

I am very excited about the Meteorologist position opening up at Hearst Television Inc. and I know that I am the right person for the job.

I have a master’s degree with a major in Meteorology and four years of experience working in a newsroom for a local television station where I gained considerable knowledge in journalism. Some of my courses centered on weather systems, calculus, physics and physical climatology.

I have experience using computerized models and collecting data from radar and satellite images to help forecast the weather. My experience also includes measuring air pressure, humidity and temperature and presenting this information to the public over international networks and to other professionals through briefings.

I have always had a real interest in the impact weather has on the environment, which is one of the reasons why I am so interested in this position. I have very strong research skills with the ability to gather and analyze data collected from the oceans, the land and the upper atmosphere. I can monitor the changes in the stratosphere and the climate change on a global scale and then use this information to help make predictions on how the weather will affect our future.

I am team oriented with great communication skills. This makes it easy to converse with other professionals to complete jobs in a timely but efficient manner. I hope to meet with you soon to talk more about this position along with what I have to offer your company.
