I would like to take this opportunity to express my interest in the Special Education Assistant position with Minneapolis Public Schools.
My goal is to provide support for the teacher by helping to create lesson plans and putting together both indoor and outdoor activities suited for these students. I also understand how important it is for the students to socialize and my abilities include helping them work together for a common goal to encourage interaction and friendships.
I have the patience and ability to work one-on-one with the students to ensure they understand the lessons and to monitor their progress in order to help the teacher access how well they’re learning. My abilities also include taking care of their physical needs such as helping them eat, use the restroom and to move around to different locations within the school.
My personal skills include having the ability to pay close attention to detail, to stay organized and to adapt to different types of environments quickly or to changes in the schedule. I also have excellent communication and multitasking skills along with the ability to stay calm and focused in stressful situations. I have the ability to help the teacher take care of these special needs students by keeping them safe and by making sure they are receiving the best possible education.
I have an associate degree in education and two years of experience working part time in a similar job caring for special needs students. I am confident that my experience and skills qualify me as the best applicant for this position.
