I am applying at your school, New Haven School District for the bilingual teacher position that is open.

I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Education and also hold certifications in both education and bilingual education. I also have certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and am certified English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor. I have been teaching non English speakers for many years and truly enjoy this profession. I have taught English to both children and adults who need to have English as a second language.

I bring to any position great communication skills along with a sensitivity for other cultures and creativity which is necessary when teaching non English speaking persons. I also offer great computer skills and am proficient on computer based training software as well as graphics and children’s educational software. These software programs are instrumental in aiding in my work with both children and adults as they offer teaching aids. Many find it easier to go through the curriculum on a computer rather than in more traditional teaching methods.

I am also fluent in Spanish which makes it much easier to help those who are Spanish speakers to learn English as a second language. While I have also taught students who speak other languages, the majority of my students in the past have been native Spanish speakers.
