Appreciation Letter to Coworker for Help

What would we do without our coworkers? It is a privilege to work in an atmosphere in which coworkers behave as a team and help each other out from time to time. Saying thank you to a coworker for help is always important; however an appreciation letter to a coworker for help may be in order when that individual goes over and above the reasonable efforts coworkers typically put forth when helping one another.

Format and Content

An appreciation letter to a coworker for help format should include the circumstances associated with the special help the coworker provided, the dates involved and the positive results achieved through the coworker’s assistance. A letter of appreciation is always a thoughtful gesture. It is a good idea to give a copy of the appreciation letter to the coworker’s supervisor and even to the human resources department to place in the employee’s personnel file.

Sample

One employee assisted another with learning a new computer system and the grateful employee wrote this appreciation letter to coworker for help sample. An employee missed training on a new computer system while she was on maternity leave, and a thoughtful coworker helped her get up to speed.

Dear Diana,

I want to thank you for coming in to the office an hour early every day for 2 weeks in a row to help me learn the new computer system that was installed while I was on maternity leave. I also want to thank you for being so patient with mw on those days when I have been so tired after my baby did not sleep well the night before.

I really do not know how I would have mentally and physically survived this first month back to work without your kindness and patient assistance. I appreciate so much your empathy as you have been through this 3 times and this is my first experience as a working mom with an infant.

My first day back to work, my mind was completely boggled by the new system which is so totally different from our previous system. I know that you saw the look of panic on my face, and you swooped in and told me not to worry. I greatly appreciate how you have, not only met me early for so many days to train me, but have patiently answered my questions throughout the day.

I am giving a copy of this letter to our supervisor, Mary Carter, as well as the vice president of the Human Resources Department. I think it is important that others higher up in the organization know how much time you took to help me learn the new system. This benefitted the company greatly by preventing mistakes that I might have made due to missing the training program on the new system. I am eternally grateful to you.

Yours Truly,

Sally Stewart
