Attorney Recommendation Letter
An attorney recommendation letter may be used in several situations. It can be from a professor on behalf of a law school graduate who recently passed the Bar, or it can be from another attorney on behalf of a colleague who is applying for a position with a law firm.

This sample attorney recommendation letter is for a law school graduate who recently passed the state Bar exam and is ready to begin practicing law as an associate in a professional firm. The letter is written by the district attorney in a county where the applicant previously had an internship.
I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Ms. Sarah Keith for the position of associate attorney at Akin and Akin, LLC. As the Carroll County District Attorney I had the privilege of supervising Ms. Keith during her recent internship with my office. She spent her final semester of law school working full time in the D.A.’s office to fulfill her law school internship requirement, and she performed all of her assigned duties with professionalism and competence. It is my understanding that Ms. Keith graduated from ABC University School of Law with a grade point average of 3.65 and passed the bar exam on the first attempt. She is well-prepared for a position as an associate attorney.
While here at the Carroll County D.A.’s office Ms. Keith held the designation of certified law student and assisted in the preparation of cases for grand jury presentations, trials and hearings. She conducted impeccable research for appellate and trial briefs and assisted in the writing of a number of the briefs as well. She also helped assistant district attorneys in the office prepare misdemeanor and felony prosecutions and conducted preliminary hearings for several criminal cases before a local district justice. In addition, Ms. Keith assisted with investigative work my office conducted on a high profile murder case in the county. She handled every assignment with confidence and integrity.
Ms. Keith demonstrated tremendous expertise with legal research and writing projects. Her exceptional research skills and ability to write compelling arguments were extremely valuable to my staff, and she is sorely missed now that her internship has ended. She also provided assistance to staff attorneys with documentation of victim and witness interviews, formal plea procedures and jury selection. On a day-to-day basis Ms. Keith was responsible for arraigning defendants, arranging bail, handling pretrial conferences along with evidentiary and non-evidentiary motions. All four of her supervising attorneys gave her superior scores.
I strongly encourage you to consider Sarah Keith for the position of associate attorney with your firm. I believe you would be extremely pleased with her work, and I feel certain that she has a bright future in the legal world. Should you wish to discuss Ms. Keith’s qualifications or have further questions about her work, please feel free to contact me at my office at (555)-555-5555 or via email at [email]
Respectfully Yours,
Adam Vance
