This sample project manager recommendation letter is for an individual who has served as project manager for a smaller task in the past and is now being considered for the job of managing a larger project. The letter is written to a company vice president by the individual’s department manager.
It is my pleasure to recommend Jane Wallace as project manager over the integration of the computer system here at XYZ Industries, LLC with the system of ABC Corporation which was recently acquired. As you know, Jane has already successfully managed a computer integration project with a smaller company XYZ acquired, and she brought that project in on time, slightly under budget and with no major obstacles.
Jane is highly respected by her colleagues and subordinates and skillfully managed the plethora of personalities involved with her last project. Her enthusiastic, optimistic attitude is contagious and serves to motivate and energize her project staff. She is a natural leader who has the gift of identifying each staff member’s primary talents and bringing out the best in each one throughout the course of the entire project. Jane is very calm and collected under pressure. She has superb problem-solving skills as well as exceptional team-building skills.
In the course of managing her last project, Jane demonstrated an ability to quickly sift through mountains of data and determine which was relevant to the project and should be used and which was irrelevant and could be discarded. She was able to focus on the stated objectives of the project and prioritize every task necessary to accomplish the desired end result. From there she assigned the right individuals for each small task and provided detailed instructions, encouragement and advice and so that each project staff member had a clear direction and took part in the overall success of the project.
During her previous project manager assignment, Jane kept all members of the project staff as well as management informed of the progress through every phase. She possesses excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Jane showed an uncanny ability to foresee a potential problem and essentially nip it in the bud saving the company money and preventing unexpected hurdles from delaying the project’s ultimate implementation. An effective delegator, Jane trusts the team she assembles and they have tremendous faith in her as a fair and effective leader.
I am happy to recommend Jane Wallace to manage this important project and I hope you will seriously consider her for the task. If you would like to further discuss her record and qualifications please contact me at (555)-555-5555 or via email at [email]
Sincerely,
Katherine Emerson
